Cancellation

Dear members,
Dear senators,
Dear past-members,
Dear supporters of JCI,

First and foremost, we hope that you and your loved ones are in good health. We extend our deepest sympathies if this isn’t the case.

After long deliberation with the Board of Directors of JCI Kortrijk, the committee that coordinates NCN 2020 and the Board of JCI Belgium, we have taken the decision to cancel the national convention in September 2020.

Our Conference Organizing Committee and host organization have put in an incredible amount of time and effort to create a remarkable event. This decision has been well considered.

The health of the participants, partners and their families are and will always be our top priority. These days, there is too much uncertainty and we are facing a drastically changed economic landscape affecting some of our partners. Requiring further efforts from them is, in our opinion, inappropriate. In addition, we want to prevent previously registered JCI members from having to bear the cost of a possible later cancellation of NCN 2020. At last, we are currently in a long exit phase from a national lockdown, which means that the members of our department can hardly have contact in the crucial months prior to the event and there are no clear guidelines. This complicates the further organisation of NCN 2020. We do not wish to let the quality and result of our members' work fade by letting the convention continue in another way or at another time, but want to build towards a sustainable future.

We would like to thank everyone who was involved in the organization and planning of NCN 2020 from the bottom of our hearts for all their efforts. We hope to be able to organize wonderful events within the framework of JCI in the future and to strengthen our ties. JCI members support each other in good times and bad and bring each other to a higher level. These are our core values and that is what our chapter stands for. Hoping for your understanding and thanks for your enthusiasm, we hope to see you all again soon.

Practical information:

  • All JCI members and senators who have ordered tickets will be refunded (100%). This will happen in the next few weeks.
Don’t forget to cancel hotel reservations
JCI Belgium will hold the General Meeting on the scheduled date of the NCN. In all probability, this will be a digital meeting. The details will be worked out within the Board of JCI Belgium in the coming months. So keep this date free in your agenda.
There will also be a moment later this year to grant the annual awards, to hold the Staines ceremony and to hand over the necklace to the president of 2021. JCI Belgium, together with JCI Flanders and JCI Belgium Wallonie Bruxelles, is looking into the possibilities to organize all this before the end of 2020. In the first place, we are following the guidelines of the government to make sure that we can organize all this in a safe way within the possibilities of what is allowed. As soon as there is more clarity about this, JCI Belgium will communicate about this together with the regions Flanders and BWB.

If you have any further questions, you can always contact us at info@ncn2020.be or at 0479/50.46.35 or contact the Board of JCI Belgium.

Bee hopeful,

Team NCN 2020, JCI Kortrijk & JCI Belgium
